How do I login to Share-IT?
You are able to login into Share-IT if you have GT account. Use your GT account username and password. If you are not clear which username that is, go to http://passport.gatech.edu. There is a help section on the main page that can help you figure it out.
How do I see specific information in Share-IT?
When seeking specific information in Share-IT, you have two options. The first option is to use the search box at the top right of the screen. The search box has a nice feature called livesearch that will find matches on the fly. The other option is to locate the owner of the information you seek. The reason that it might be the right option is that the information is in Share-IT but you do not have access to it. If you do not, the owner of the information can give you access by add you their sharing tab.
Does Share-IT have blog functionality?
Yes, Share-IT has blog functionality but it is not yet supported by OIT. We understand that it is something people want now. We are doing our best to approach this new tool with caution. We are adding functionality slowly and only as we feel that what already exists is stable and usable. We appreciate your patience.
Does Share-IT have wiki functionality?
Yes, Share-IT has wiki functionality. It was added 1/4/7. It is supported by OIT. The product is called wicked. You can add a wiki page by selecting the "add to folder" drop down on the top of content area. You will see a wicked doc selection. Does Share-IT have calendar functionality?
No, the calendar feature is not currently supported. You can create a calendar but not be able to do much with it at this time.
This seems just like a portal or wiki, is it the same?
This is a content management system. It is not a portal or wiki. The three are actually different. To see a summary of the differences, check out...Wikis/CMS/Portals?
How do I join a certain group and get access to what they see?
You will have to identify the owner of the group and ask them to add you to their sharing tab. If you are in the group that way, you will see what they see.
I am trying to add someone to a folder and cannot find them using search in the Sharing tab. What is wrong?
So you need to ask yourself two things. One - Has this person ever logged in? If the answer is no, then send a remedy ticket to have them added as an account in Share-IT. Two - I know this person has logged in but have they added information about themselves in their personal preferences? You might have to contact this person and have them look at their personal preferences to see if their name is in there. If not, ask them to enter their name and save it. This will allow you to search on their name. This problem will be resolved when we are able to integration GTED into Share-IT. For now, this is a usability problem and understand it needs to be handled.
