High Volume Scanner
Instructions on how to use the High Volume scanner located in the School of Physics copy room.
Log in to the computers using your Georgia Tech credentials. Make sure that when you log in, the AD domain is selected in the field called "Log on to:".
Launch the Capture Perfect Software from the Desktop or the start menu.
Click on the Scanner Setting icon as shown below to configure your scanning options, such as paper size, resolution, single or duplex, etc. If you are prompted to select a scanner first, make sure to select the DR-9080C.
Select the appropriate options for your job and when you are done hit OK. If you want to scan both sides of the paper, make sure to select Duplex in the Scanning Side option.
Take a look at the scanner and make sure that the ligth inside the big round green button is not flashing. If the light is flashing, the scanner is in standby and you need to press the button once to get the scanner ready. After pressing the green button, the ligth will turn on constantly and also the page count in the LCD panel will illuminate.
Place your documents in the lower tray of the scanner and make sure the sliders are adjusted to the paper. The short edge of the paper must be touching the black plastic part of the scanner.
Now go to the Scan menu and select Scan Batch to File to start your job.
You will now need to select the type of file and scanning options you want in the next screen. If you want PDF files, make sure to adjust the Save as type field to PDF File (*.pdf).
The other option that is very important is the MultiPage Settings. This will decide whether each page that you scan is put into a separate PDF file (Single Page creates one PDF file per page) or if all pages should go into one PDF file (Multiple Page(All Pages) puts all pages into a single PDF file). You can also select the location where the PDF file will be created. It is strongly recommended to save the file to your Z: drive since it can be accessed from the network.
After you hit save, the machine will prompt you to scan more pages or stop. If you are done, click on Stop Scanning. If you need to scan more, add the new pages to be scanned to the machine and select Continue Scanning.
Once the machine has finished, you can view your scanned document directly from the Capture Perfect program or you can open the pdf file. Here is a screen shot of the button used to change pages for your reference.
